Free stuff

To celebrate the almost imminent release of Johnny and the Vampires of Versailles, I am letting the first book of the series go free in e-book format on Smashwords.
Here's the link: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/99658

I would love to say it is also free on Amazon, but I have to wait and see if they price match and let it go free there too. Last time I did a freebie - I had over sixty thousand downloads over a period of months. Since I think Johnny Doesn't Drink Champagne is a more exciting book, I am looking forward to getting lots of new readers and hopefully building up a bit of a buzz for the release of the sequel.
So please - tweet it out and tell everyone you know.

Also, I am giving away two copies of the PRINT version of Johnny Doesn't Drink Champagne on Goodreads. Here are the details:

  2. Thank you! I'm so glad you liked the first book. The second one is almost ready, I PROMISE! It's just that I don't want it going out with typos and errors in it. Thank you so much for writing to me - it helps to keep me motivated to write faster!!! Use the 'contact me' button to send me your email address if you'd like one of the advance reader copies, and I'll send you a free one.

  3. I just finished reading Johnny Doesn't Drink Champagne on the nook, thank you so much for making it available as a free read! I finished it feeling like Maddie and Johnny's story is far from over, so I was so glad to see here that a sequel is coming! Is there a release date for it yet? Is the offer for an advance reader copy still open?

  4. Hi Angelamay, thank you so much for your letter. Yes, I'm still giving away ARCs if you'd like one. If you use the 'contact me' button in the top right hand corner of the blog you can send me your details and I'll send one out when I get them. Electronic copies and print copies will soon be available. Hoping to release the book officially within the next few weeks.

  5. Hey Cody! The "contact me" button doesn't appear to be working for me, it says "The username you typed does not exist or the user might have disabled the form." :( Do you have another means that I could contact you by to send you my email address?

  6. Hi Angela,
I'll try to get that 'contact me' thing sorted out - thanks so much for letting me know about that. Another way to reach me is through Goodreads or Facebook at or Twitter at CodyYoungAuthor. I can also be emailed on cody(at)cody-young.com

  8. Hi Adrianne, so glad you enjoyed the first book. The sequel, Johnny and the Vampires of Versailles is written and edited and the artwork is done. Hoping to get it uploaded to Amazon and Barnes and Noble THIS WEEK. Will post updates on twitter, Facebook, Goodreads and here on my blog as soon as I hear that it has gone live. Apologies for the delay (due to a family crisis) it is about to happen.

  10. Hi KT - I had to fly to America with my husband and son, so there has been a delay on the second book 'Johnny and the Vampires of Versailles' but it will be uploaded very soon. I am home now, and I have done some last minute revisions to the book - including changing the fate of one of the characters (Claude - A French art student - I know you're going to like him!). I promise there will be news soon.

  11. I just finished the first book on my nook reader. Went to the online store and bought every other book you have but alas, there is no sequel to Johnny doesn't drink champagne. It is a fabulous read and read while working. Needless to say, I had a hard time concentrating on work. I am now starting the Lady and the Locksmith. I am anxiously awaiting Johnny and the Vampires of Versailles. I hope to see it soon!

    1. Hi Angie,
Thank you so much for reading Johnny Doesn't Drink Champagne. The sequel - Johnny and the Vampires of Versailles - is out now on amazon and smashwords. The book has shipped to Barnes & Noble and B&N (NOOK) listings will appear any day. Ditto with Kobo, Sony and Apple. There will be a print version too, we're working on that. I was so happy to hear that you're planning to read my other books - thank you! One small word of warning to you and other readers: I did NOT write 'the Church of Pookie' which appears with my books on some websites. Another author with a very similar name (M. Cody Young) wrote that one. I've written to B&N to ask them to give that author a separate page but it hasn't happened yet. So glad to hear you are enjoying my books!

  12. Hi Cody, I really loved "Johnny Doesn't Drink Champagne"! I'm not a 'tween', I'm 47. I love you're writing style, keep it up! I will keep reading you books, as I am very dedicated to my favorite authors!

  13. Thanks Michelle! I love hearing from all all my readers - and surprisingly lots of them are in their thirties and forties, as well as girls as young as twelve, and there are even some guys who read my world war two books. Thanks for your encouragement, it all helps to keep me writing. On with book three of the 'Johnny and Maddie' saga...
